  • Communications
    • Step 1 - $50,627.20
    • 5% Lump Sum (performance Based) - $2,699.01
    • Top Out Pay w Lump Sum - $70,174.21
    • Shift Differential Pay = 3% evening shift, 6% night shift

  • Patrol Officer
    • Step 1 - $75,462.40

POLICE OFFICER (PATROL)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  •  Must be at least 20 years old and possess High school diploma or GED and have a minimum of forty-five (45) college credit hours from an accredited college.

  • Must be able to, or have already, successfully completed the Police Academy Program and Field Training Program (FTO), and attain Basic Peace Officer certification. Associates degree preferred.

  • Military/Previous Law Enforcement College Credit:  Requirement for college hours are waived if you have 3 years Active Duty Military OR 3 years full time Law Enforcement experience
 

BENEFITS

  • Communications Certificate Pay: 
    Intermediate - $300 per year
    Advanced - $600 per year
    Masters - $900 per year

  • Certificate Pay: 
    Intermediate - $600 per year
    Advanced - $1,200 per year
    Masters - $1,800 per year

  • Education Pay: 
    Associates - $300 per year
    Bachelors - $600 per year
    Masters - $900 per year

  • Equipment: All equipment including duty and backup weapons are provided. The duty and backup weapons are awarded to the officer upon departure after 5 years or more of honorable service with the Department.

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: There is a 30 day waiting period for insurance. The city provides each employee with a choice of 2 medical plans to choose from.

  • Sick Leave: 6.67 hours per month with no maximum accrual

  • Vacation
    0 – 1 years of service 6.67 hours per month
    1 - 4 years of service 10.00 hours per month
    5 – 9 years of service 11.67 hours per month
    10 years > 13.34 hours per month

  • Holiday Pay: 11 holidays (option of double time and a half pay if worked or bank holiday to be used within fiscal year)

  • Longevity Pay: $5.00 per month of service after completing 1 year

  • Retirement: Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) – 14% contribution by City – 20 year retirement, 5 year vesting

  • Life Insurance: 1 x Pay up to $50,000 through City 1 x Pay through TMRS (no max)
